Believe it or not, I had never listened to Screwball or Blaq Poet before The Blaqprint. Just never had the time, nor motivation, and honestly I don't know if I would have listened to The Blaqprint if it wasn't for Primo almost producing the whole thing.And after giving it an honest listen, I genuinely wish I could get that hour back. For a producer of DJ Premier's caliber, the production was barely lukewarm. And as for Blaq Poet, I just can't hear it. He does a have a commanding presence on the mic, but as a lyricist Poet ain't much. That greatly deflated the value of The Blaqprint for me.
However, there were a few ill jawns, and the production on Rap Addiction really made it stand out.
