I copped Scribes Of Life simply based on the cover art. Wasn't expecting very much from a rapper named Journalist. Maybe some fabricated reporting of 'the hood' or some negligent description of 'the ghetto'. 
Much to my surprise, this dude spit some gems. And while Scribes Of Life is not without it's flaws, it's a solid album with some great production at times. And Self Explanatory fits that description to a (t?) tee.
