The good homie Elaquent released a tape full of remixes that he had done to 7 jawns of absolutely no relation. Although dukes did his thing with the I Gotcha remix, he also outdid himself with a remix of De La's Stakes Is High. Shit is beyond serious.
Thing is my mans made these shits years ago, imagine the illness he's cooking up now. Don't sleep, cop the In Colour series with the quickness on EQ's myspace.

Lupe Fiasco-I Gotcha (Elaquent Remix)
EPMD-Let The Funk Flow
Off the seminal Strictly Business. Speaking of, it took me quite a while to become acclimated to a pre-90's album, especially in terms of production and simplistic rhyme schemes.
Still, aside from You Gots To Chill, Let The Funk Flow is the illest jawn of what is recognized as EPMD's finest work. That must count for something probably.

Havoc-Hell On Earth Instrumental
Disregard the right hand side of this photograph. Off the Mobb's Hell On Earth comes one of Havoc's illest and chillest productions in all of time. There's an unspoken majesty included in this instrumental, that coincides with the majority of Mobb Deep instrumentals. Piano based with snares in the background, yet shit knocks proper.

Grafh-Damage Is Done
I remember I found this on some obscure Kanye tape, and immediately tried to cop all of Grafh's discog. I'd call this one of his premier jawns, but dukes has steady gems in his collection. Even the immortal Green Lantern crafted a tape with Grafh.
I like the desensitized ignorance that's presented on this jawn.

Termanology-So Amazing
When Term was just coming up in the game, it was expected that he would be dropping heat rocks such as this on the regular. Although it can't entirely be expected that he would be getting production from Primo on the regular, the rest of Politics As Usual was weak sauce and generally undeserving of the Reasonable Doubt reference.
Still So Amazing was some quality shit. Judge for yourself.

Tanya Morgan-We Be
I can't really condone these sorts of rapps, but I suppose these boys ripped it in a light-hearted sort of way. Almost like some new-age De La type shit.

Outkast-ATLiens
I apologize for posting such a large proportion of ATLiens already, but I really feel like it's one of the illest albums of the mid-90's. While the east coast was pumping out mafia hits one after another, Dre and Large Boi were crafting their own adaption of left coast funk on the title track ATLiens. This jawn might just contain the illest hook ever created as an added bonus.

Natural Elements-Apocalypse

Kollabo Brothers feat. Paris-Words I Wrote
Furthering the reputation that the Europeans can improve on anything American, comes a jawn from the Finnish Kollabo Brothers. On their album For My Peoples, they enlist the help of many hip hop veterans over new-age boom-bap. Look for cats like Tim Dog, Craig G, Grandmaster Caz, and Diamond D among others over these ill compositions.
For Words I Wrote, the Kollabo bros got lyrical assistance from Paris, who strays away from his political rapps for long enough to drop the illest Scarface reference ever.

Fashawn feat. Exile-Bo Jackson
This comes off Fashawn's Boy Meets World, but you already knew that. Anyway, I finally gave the Phenom's much-acclaimed album it's first listen, and have to say that shit is solid but nowhere near deserving of the hype it received.
On the other hand, there's a jawn entitled Bo Jackson, that features Exile going back to his Emanon roots and rippin' shit on the mic. Quality shit.

Cam'ron & Bloodshed-Fare One Pt. 1
You can find this one on the Collector's Edition of the Children Of The Corn album. And if you even halfway fucks with any members of the DITC crew, then that tape should be a must-cop. Countless Cam goodies, and also an alarmingly high number of jawns by Bloodshed. Don't forget early Mase either, dukes could really spit back in the day.
Anyway, this is a two part freestyle Cam and Bloodshed recorded, and hopefully I'll be able to get part 2 up soon enough.

Cella Dwellas-Perfect Match
Some time a while ago, I got a recommendation from a friend to lend an ear to the Cella Dwellas' Realms 'N' Reality. Truthfully, I was expecting some indie raw-core shit, but was blessed with a classic mid-90's opus.
The lead single was Perfect Match, (which I think came out on Loud Records) and it's type trife, but the beat knocks and the subject matter can easily be curtailed by the ill rapps.

RJD2 and Jakki Da Motamouth-FHH (Fuck Hip-Hop)
Truth be told, I've never really listened to RJD2 in any capacity, mostly because of his Def Jux affiliation. Comic-core rapps tend to be too artsy for my unequivocal taste, resulting in habitual yawns in between beat breaks. Still, RJD2 was one of the iller Def Jukies back in the day.
This is off the highly-acclaimed Deadringer back from '02, and Jakki Da Motamouth (who sounds remarkably similar to Royce Da 5'9) graces this jawn with his presence.

Joell Ortiz-Can't You Tell
Anytime a producer scratches a pre-2000 Jay-Z sample onto the hook, it's almost always some quality shit. Can't You Tell is no exception. Although this jawn is from the middle of '08, it's vintage Joell, with clever punchlines and witty rhymes a plenty. Especially that Dre line.

Crooked I-Thank God For That White
You already know the beat, and you've probably already heard the original Don Cartagena version (which gets more flak than it probably deserves). Still, despite Crook's mixtape antics, his version shits on Joey Crack's. Crooked I still delivers a fair amount of his predictable lyrics and nihilistic threats, but beneath all that is a genuinely dope verse. Check it.

Being a huge Planet Asia stan, I extend my sincere-est apologies that his joint effort with Rasco had not been mentioned yet. Although How The West Was One is a solid all-around effort, the Cali Agents anthem is an spectacle to behold. Some other-worldly shit on the real.

Mr. Hyde feat. Q-Unique, ill Bill & DJ Eclipse-Killer Collage
Speaking of Ill Bill, this here is a jawn off his Non-Phixion affiliate Mr. Hyde's album called Chronicles Of The Beastman. If you've heard this genre of rapps, then you know it's some lyrical tomfoolery type shit. On the William Braunstein tip, he drops some lyrical murder over his little bro's production.
When you listen to this one, notice Mr. Hyde's cutesy cadence. Ha! And notice that Q-Unique is still mad underrated, dukes can really spit phlegm.

ill Bill-What's Wrong With Bill
Another gem off Bill's immortal What's Wrong With Bill? record. The self-titled track provides some of the most brutally honest rhymes and hard-hitting drums that will be found on the whole album. Also provides a good barometer of what to expect from this album.

Westside Connection-King Of The Hill
Speaking of my favorite meat, I was watching Beef II yesterday and got an opportunity to recollect on the Westside Connection/Cypress Hill beef. Never knew shit was so serious, or as serious as Beef makes shit out to be, which I assume is obviously exaggerated.
Although the documentary made it seem like Cypress Hill emerged the victor (even if only by a hair), I think King Of The Hill is the illest diss track that emerged from the 'beef'.

Fredro Starr's Tales Of The Industry Part 2
Since Part 1 was a moderate success of some sorts, and also because I'd easily forget as time went on. Like I said before, Fredro Starr is no Mark Wahlberg (he did however hang with the real Turtle of whom Entourage is based), but dukes has got a few stories after all these years.
Part 2 is less of a diatribe, but I believe equally entertaining. Here she is:
"50 Cent" Part 1
"50 Cent" Part 2
"Walk In New York"
"California Dreamin"

Fredro Starr's Tales Of The Industry Part 1
I don't remember how I got put up on this series, but I spent a good hour yesterday watching all the episodes. There's obviously better subjects for industry tales than Fredro Starr, but dukes has witnessed a lot, and provides quite a few good stories. Most are from his Onyx days, but there are a lot of current shits from his solo career and quite a few about his days in Hollywood.
Below are about half of the ep's, I'll do a part two post sometime soon:
"Club New York Shooting (Shyne)"
"Tha Row Or Not Tha Row"
"Party At Mike's"
"Rest In Paradise, ODB"
"Studio Sessions"
"Thank You, JMJ"

Sean Price feat. Kool G Rap, Chino XL, C Rayz Walz & Hell Razah-Goon Opera
Found this on Sean P's seminal Passion Of The Price series (volume 8 to be accurate). Even though Chino XL only appears for a few bars, dukes still outspits all other competitors, although Kimbo Price gives him a run for his money. And Khrome unleashes a right ill production, although I doubt this is the original use of said instrumental.

Off the first Blackout, but you already knew that shit, ain't you? Although there are innumerable dope cuts on that album, ain't shit that compares to how well Red & Mef sound together on The ?. How about Method Man using the word 'saboteur'?

George Carlin-Why We Don't Need 10 Commandments
I just noticed that most of the Carlin posts have something to do with religion, obviously a large part of George's subject matter, but not the overlying majority. I will certainly attempt to render this miscue.
In this clip, Carlin speaks about how we can 'condense' the 10 Commandments created by 'religious hustlers'. Can't say the logic is all that far off either, even for a satirical piece.

5th Ward Boyz-Concrete Hell
Some older Rap-A-Lot shit from '95. When it comes to TX rap, 5th Ward Boyz provided some of the earlier forms of illness, not to say no one dope came before them, but their mesh of G-Funk and esoteric rapps is to be taken serious.
Concrete Hell is type trite these days, but I imagine shit was original in '95, and still sounds like some head-nodding southern muzak.

Reservoir Doggs-Back To Berth
I picked up some 2-part tape that has rare studio masters for Buckwild back in the day DITC days. Lots of b-sides and vinyls put to mp3. One of the groups that is frequented on said tape is the Reservoir Doggs. These dudes don't exactly spit with the tenacity of the mentioned Tarantino film, but the rhymes are definitely ill, and Buckwild outdoes himself on the production tip.

Inspectah Deck feat. LA The Darkman-Lovin' You
Somehow Inpsectah Deck has amassed a reputation that claims him to be one of the weaker members of the Wu Tang. Shit's preposterous if judged by his features and work with the Clan. Admittedly, Deck tends to drop an low-quality solo product, but Uncontrolled Substance is a solid album.
Lovin' You is a gem to be found on that album, although type sentimental, still some dope shit.

Tragedy Khadafi-At Large
Mr. Khadafi was still known as Intelligent Hoodlum when he released this jawn. A bit different from his older work, 'cos I can't entirely see such a light-hearted jazz riff canvassing Trag's rhymes anytime from his Against All Odds days and onwards. The instrumental's a bit too uplifting to boast rhymes like "I'm pissin' on the grave of Kennedy", although to be fair, JFK was long before Percy Chapman.

UGK-Swishas And Dosha
I can't imagine that hardened veterans like Bun and Pimp still smoke Swisha's, but that's the only shit I ain't condoning. Still to this day, the 1-2 punch of International Players Anthem and this jawn is one of the illest openings in modern hip hop history.
I used to clown on the Underground Kingz album, and I won't deny there is quite a bit of weak shit on said album, but there's also an equal amount of dopeness.

Joell Ortiz feat. Immortal Technique-Modern Day Slavery
You can find this one on Joell's The Brick: Bodega Chronicles, a top-notch album if you haven't heard for yourself as of yet. On this jawn, Ortiz starts to kick knowledge but then falls off a bit and attempts to interact with the instrumental a bit too much. And wouldn't you guess it, Immortal Technique picks up where Joell left off and drops some severe illness.

East Flatbush Project feat. Des and Mr. 45-Tried By 12(Joe Buddha Remix)
I understand the OG version of this jawn is an unparalleled classic (that has yet to grace these pages), but Joe Buddha did a number on this one. The instrumental's completely different, bears no relation to Spencer Bellamy's masterpiece, yet it's still worthy of being mentioned in comparison.
If you haven't heard either of the jawns yet, stop the narcolepsy.

Sir Menelik feat. A-Butta & AL Skills-At You
You can find this one on Sir Menelek's Let's Build For A Sec 12 incher. At You is the b-side from my understanding. He builds some death rap with underground vets AL Skills and A-Butta. If you haven't heard Scaramanga before, dukes can spit blood diamonds, and his affiliates are dope as well. This is one of his newer jawns, but it still knocks proper.

Blood Of Abraham-99 Cent Lighter
These two boys comprise(d?) Blood Of Abraham, a former group based on Ruthless Records (Eazy-E's imprint). If I remember right, they even recorded some songs with Eazy back in the day.
This is off their second LP Eyedollartree, which makes it less historically significant than Future Profits. Still some left-coast heat on this one, especially 99 Cent Lighters. The message is what matters (word to Grandmaster Flash).

Charles Mingus-Goodbye Pork Pie Hat
Just started reaching into Mingus' discog as of late, and Mingus Ah Um has stayed on repeat for quite some time. Large Professor-NY At Night
Although Large Pro usually incorporates dark basslines and hard breaks into his instrumentals, you will find softer shits on Beatz Vol. 1 and 2. Maybe that's just Xtra P escaping his traditional roots and opting for a more experimental sound.
Upon listening to Beatz Vol.2, NY At Night stuck out instantly. The jazz riff used on the loop was quite a find and those loud drums sound like traditional Large Pro.

Illest Spitta From The Wu Tang: GZA
I have to admit that I gave GZA no chance in winning this months poll. Don't get it twisted, Gary Grice catches mad wreck on the Zune, but Ghost and Rae are in far better standing with the current generation.
Still, with opuses like Words From The Genius and the classic Liquid Swords, GZA is a solid choice. Below I compiled some of what I believe to be his better works. Enjoy.
Results here and one love to the person who voted for U-God. I got a laugh out of that.
Mic Trippin'

Liquid Swords

Mos Def-Ms. Fat Booty
I'm pretty sure this was the lead single off Mos' Black On Both Sides back in '99. The production is illin', thanks to Ayatollah, who also produced Know That, an opus of incomparable proportions.
Ayatollah digs deep on this jawn, using an rare Aretha Franklin single for the sample, and Mos displays his immaculate storytelling abilities.

The Year In Freshness
Although '09 has passed, and '010 is already upon us, I figured I'd throw up one mix that offers a definitive conclusion on the year before. The homie Elmattic put together this 'best of '09 mix', and it really offers an wide perspective of what '09 was all about, and after looking through all the albums I listened to in '09, I'm hard-pressed to find any jawns that I would include. And that's not to say I'd even heard everything included on this mix. Enjoy:
Scott Rinse Receipt - Iller Than Theirs
Runnin’ Wild - Dead Prez & DJ Green Lantern
High Hater - Super Chron Flight Brothers
Supermagic - Mos Def
