Ras Kass' Soul On Ice EPK

I've jocked Ras' Soul On Ice ever since the start up of this site. Shit's an extraordinary tape with so many layers that you don't fully appreciate what Ras Kass crafted until you've heard Soul On Ice 20 or 30 times over. I'm not gonna go to in-depth with the description, you can find that here.

I'm starting to think Nardwuar might need a category all to himself. Anyway, when Nardwuar the infinitely knowledgeable music historian meets ?uesto the immaculately schooled hip hop historian, it makes for some quality visuals. Especially when Nardwuar breaks out some of the most obscure records and Ahmir knows them off the top. It's broken down into 4 videos, something like 37 minutes. If you've got time to waste, why not waste it on this?

Phonte- iTunes Draconian Measures

I typically watch these videos and appreciate them for what they're worth and then forget about them altogether.
However, Phontigallo's plight with the corporate juggernaut struck a heart chord deep inside. Especially when he and Nicolay are creating quality music, and iTunes makes the album cost $16. Who would buy an album for $16? Steve Jobs and his draconian measures...

The Autobiography of John Austin Episode 1

I hate to come off like a Ras Kass stan, but it's hard not to post anything about the man's somewhat cryptic past. This is a guy who crafted one of the best hip hop albums of all time in Soul On Ice. And I don't say 'best' in the sense of "holistically better", but rather in the sense that Soul On Ice is irrefutably one of the best albums ever made.
Just with that said, the first 30 seconds of this interview are intriguing when he says he's not interested in equaling his first opus. Really gives you an interesting look at John Austin rather than Ras Kass.

The Best Of Nardwuar Part 1

Blame it on Aaron at HHIR who posted a video clip of this guy interviewing Nas and got me hella interested. This guy's shtick is that he dresses really strange, has no reservations in asking questions, and always ends interviews by asking his subjects to sing along to Doot Doola Doot Doo....
It's deeper than that though. He has an incredibly thorough knowledge of hip hop (among other genres) and he digs deep by asking uncanny questions. Think Robbie meets Borat.
So in an effort to humanity, here are the essentials in the Nardwuar discog (sans all other musical genres).

If you've ever needed to watch something in your life, this is it. All the way through, trust.

The Djibouti pun wears thin pretty quick, but K'Naan proves to be a cool enough dude.
