Boogiemonsters-Strange

From the looks of it, the Boogiemonsters were an obscure underground group from the deepest depths and crevices of the NY rap scene in the mid-90's. Strange is just that, a creepy instrumental with an seemingly innocent sample used far out of context. The rhymes are something else too, are you hearing this? Might be the first and last group to ever rapp about boric acid.

This is off Finesse's '96 effort The Awakening, just another gem in an discography that is filled to the brim with classic efforts. Real talk, Lord Finesse is far too heavily slept on for the pedigree he holds. Dude has produced for legends on the NY circuit, and has a steady record on the mic, yet cats like Pete Rock and Showbiz get far more props than my mans. All I'm saying is don't sleep.

Isn't it funny how even gimmicky groups from the mid-90's still produced good music? None of this prepubescent Lonely Island-esque bullshit that people somehow find humorous. Dynomite D-Lonely Trucker

This is a jawn that comes off Dynomite D's By The Way circa 2000. It's a fully instrumental album that contains elements of dub step and various other ill-fated genres that sound identical sans a single snare or bass loop.
Regardless, it's a pretty ill album if you're in a somewhat open state of mind. And the closing jawn, Lonely Truckers, is a beauty to behold.

Elzhi feat. Royce Da 5'9-Motown 25

Elzhi is well-renowned around current rap circles, especially for The Preface. One of those post-Dilla albums that recreates the magic that the D once had back in the late '90's. Elzhi has features from godfathers of Motown rap such as Guilty Simpson, Phat Kat, T3, and Black Milk.
On Motown 25, he features Royce Da 5'9, over one of the iller instrumentals ever laid to wax.
