Common Market-Tobacco Road

That sharecropper farm rapp fo' ya ass. On the real, I find it immensely dope that RA Scion waxes poetic on otherwise untouched subject matters in hip-hop over Sabzi's majestic instrumentals. Tobacco Road is an eponymous example, one of the many jawns in the Common Market discog that combine thoughtful rapps with excellent production.

Blu & Exile-No Greater Love

There is no greater love...than mine for Blu's ill tee & Exile's production.

Erik L feat. Detroit CYDI & Stryfe-Clappintheyhands

Shit's cutesy, but the production is ill and the rhimes are bearable. Overall, a decent effort.

Little Brother feat. Darien Brockington-Slow It Down

I could do without the hook and all the cutesy skeezer talk, but shit's still well dope.

Buff1-Dream Streets

This is a jawn off Buff1's There's Only One. Honestly, first time I heard this track I didn't really like it. I mean, I knew that I loved the sample used by Vaughan T, but I couldn't tell if I really felt Buff's flow. After 20+ listens, I can confidently say that this shit is receiving constant play and is the undisputed gem off Buff's '08 release. For whatever that's worth..

Kidz In The Hall feat. Sean Price & Buckshot-The Pledge

Honestly, I'm not the biggest fan of the Kidz In The Hall, although I will admit that most of their albums are quality efforts. What's really great about this jawn is when Naledge lets his Duck Down label-mates P and Buckshot Shorty onto the mic.

Kam Moye-Where And Why

I already showed some love for Kam Moye's Self-Centered EP, however I failed to mention one of the premier jawns off that tape. Where And Why is the intro track, and proves to be the source of Kam's most smoothest rhimes while equipping a silky flow over an dope instrumental. Nothing incredible, but a solid jawn that deserves a listen.

Kev Brown-Another Random Joint

Low Budget Records released The Budget Is Low Mixtape Volume 1 towards the end of '09. You obviously can't expect anything but quality from the Low Budget collective, so rest assured that the tape is brolic. What I wasn't expecting was a cold gem of an instrumental to start the tape. Not sure if Kev Brown produced this jawn, but the instrumental is type ill, also equipped with bars that cause SARS. This track is the sickness.

Danny! feat. Naledge-Guess Who's Back

I feel kinda vagina-like posting this hipster shit, but there's something to this Danny! cat. His tapes are full of unorthodox production and all sorts of interwoven concepts. On this tape, Danny! made an album based off Common's concept of HER, and incorporated the female aspects of hip-hop into a modern day perspective. Most of it is a cutesy annoyance to the ears, but Guess Who's Back offers some interesting rapps over an very eclectic instrumental. Naledge from Kidz In The Hall provides a feature spot, which is type dope.

Kooley High-We Be That

I can't remember how I got my hands on Kooley High's Summer Sessions EP, but I gave it a listen yesterday, and shit's not half bad. Dudes got some soulful production, and the lyricism that only NC State-educated scholars can exhibit. There are quite a few lame and cutesy tracks on the Summer Sessions EP, but We Be That is some ill shit, well 1:36 and onwards anyway.

Blue Scholars-Cornerstone

It's been a second since I've kept up with the Blue Scholars, but I do remember that they dropped the Oof! EP a few months back, and they were working on a new record deal. By the way, that Oof! tape is type awful, I've never heard such terrible Sabzi production, and as a subsequent byproduct Geologic's never sounded so bad on the mic either.
This jawn comes off the original version of Bayani. A bit preachy, but still plenty dope.

Glue Adeem Maker & DJ DQ-Early Morning Silence

I'm moderately embarrassed to be posting this jawn, but we all have our guilty pleasures. I'm completely lost as to who made this album, Glue? or is it Glue Adeem Maker? and where does DJ DQ come in?
Regardless, this song comes off an album called Sunset Lodge, which is pretty terrible. Early Morning Silence was the only cut worth salvaging, and it's an interesting listen to be sure.

Blu-Since

This cut is off Blu's tape from a year or two back called Her Favorite Colo(u)r. If I remember right, it was a little while after Blu and Ex dropped Below The Heavens, and Blu was type stagnant with the output. So, he released that tape as a compilation to satisfy the demanding fans. His stans felt it, the casual fans weren't all that into it. Since was a quality cut that everyone could agree on though.

Cyne-One Day

I've constantly been trying to get into Cyne, but it's been a difficult process. It's hard to find instrumentals that aren't abrasive when listening to these dudes, or so I've found. Anyway, I randomly stumbled upon One Day, and I found that it's a really dope track with a smooth background instrumental. Like a Florida version of some Kno production.

Heiruspecs-5ves

Going to school in northern Minnesota means that indie hip-hop is either Atmosphere, Brother Ali, or Heiruspecs. Although there are bigger MN acts than Heiruspecs, college kids love the ragtag band for some reason. I've never been able to get into them, but most of the singles they release are type decent, and 5ves is no exception.

Talib Kweli-The Show

Although I'm not much for Kweli, I will admit that dukes truly has his moments. Particularly when the producer (who will not be named for fear of this post getting taken down) crafts one of his few gems, and Kweli rolls with the punches in creating an solid concoction.

Atmosphere-YGM

This was the intro track to Strictly Leakage, a promo tape that Atmosphere released a year or two back. Because I don't have the patience or hard drive capacity to dig for quality jawns on the Bad Clown series, I bring you YGM. The instrumental sounds a little too pithy to be accredited to Ant's gritty repertoire, but it's definitely a stand-out as far as Strictly Leakage. Same can be said for Slug's punchline-heavy rhymes, but this track definitely works despite the differences in styles.

Mystery's Extinction-Moderation

I remember copping this way back on the strength of Blame One's involvement with this group. And my decision has been proven a wise one, if only by the picture of the white dude, second to the right, clutching a 40. That pitcher is the type of shit I want to hear on wax.
And believe that Moderation, is a type ill cut, easily worth your time.

The Loyalists feat. Planet Asia-Compatible Opposites

I've really been getting into The Loyalists' Redemption as of late. There are some really spread out guest spots on that album. Louis Logic and Planet Asia aren't exactly two names that I think of in the same light.
That said, Compatible Opposites is some type ill shit with masterful production.
