This shit finds it's derivation from G Rap's effort with DJ Whoo Kid called Dead Or Alive. To see a legend like KGR blessing the mic with a new-school talent like Joell Ortiz is something special. Particularly significant is how Joell was able to hold his own while telling tales of the drug game gone awry. If you can excuse Whoo Kid's unfortunate trademark of yelling between songs and rewinding mid-verse, then you can find a way to enjoy this jawn.

I love this track. The juxtaposition of the content and mood of the 2 verses is brilliant.
ReplyDeleteA No DJ version of this track is definitely needed, for exactly the reasons you mentioned.
Ortiz did a track, "its nothing", with G Rap on his 2002 album.
