Surprisingly, I haven't upped any X Clan yet. To The East, Backwards is the only album I have by the Clan, and I've found that it's good for an occasional listen. Lots of counterculture sentiments that are echoed by similar pseudo-revolutionary groups. Actually, Boots Riley of The Coup draws a fair bit of inspiration from the Clan, if you listen to some of his earlier rhimes. Not that you can really draw much significance from this early '90's single. Dope on the funk tip, and fairly simplistic with the linguistics.

Funkin Lesson is the most know but least representative of X Clan's overall music. To The East, Backwards is in my top 5 of greatest Hip Hop albums. Their second album Xodus is pretty good and worth a listen if like their philosophy. Stylistically it's different then their first album however. I haven't third album yet except the one track with KRS One.

Brother J is one of most slept on emcees. His voice and style and rhymes are incredble.
