Listened to Exhibit A for the first time today, and just as I was planning to use it as an digital drink coaster, M.I.A. came on. I was stuck in a stupid trance trying to identify where I had heard an almost identical instrumental before. The Next Episode.
Ironically, if you do some digging (i.e. looking at comments from the songs youtube video), a few people mention that M.I.A. had appeared on the radio back in '97, at least a year before Dre dropped 2001. Would Dr. Dre copycat some lowly underground east-coast weed carriers? You'd think not, but the evidence is compelling.
