I believe that as a historian, you can divide Ras Kass' career into two separate parts. The Soul On Ice Ras Kass, and the post- Soul On Ice Ras Kass. The '96 Ras Kass was an young kid, completely unschooled to the unspoken regulations of mainstream hip hop. You can tell because he isn't rhyming in the best interests of Priority Records, he's not rhyming to anyone's interests. This was a completely unfiltered, creative Utopia for Ras, and as a result he produced an underselling yet incredibly captivating debut album.
After Soul On Ice, all sorts of influential people took note of his lyrical capabilities and transformed him from a easy-speaking prophet to another clog in the machine. Reduced to second-rate Dr. Dre production, sappy R&B hooks, and constant features from numerous Left-Coast weed carriers.
That's the reason for posting Hot Game, it's a little reminder of the old Ras Kass.
