I thought this would be a proper time to acknowledge Scott La Rock's extremely underrated position as a DJ for Boogie Down Productions. In many ways Scott La Rock was Eric B to KRS's Rakim. However, both DJ's could spin and scratch like nobody's business.
My Philosophy is a perfect example of the synchronous relationship between SLR and KRS. That jazzy cut that loops every 10 seconds and the initial sample make this an ear-catching instrumental, and then KRS does what he does so well.

I thought this would be a good time to incorporate this classic KayvonTV interview with KRS. My favorite moment has to be at 0:33.

One of my all-time fav songs. That interview is priceless, thanks for posting it - shaun
ReplyDeleteThe interviewer is so obnoxious that it's hilarious. He's lucky KRS is such a stand-up dude.
